Since I got into design, I’ve worked closely with people in my community and continue to design for various non-profits through a student-run digital agency at Tufts called JumboCode.

I strongly value designing to make a tangible impact to people’s lives, no matter how big or small. Being purposeful is key to my approach.

As part of a class project to design light sources for Syrian refugees, I created a solar-powered headlamp. This project opened the door for me to share my experience with educators at the FabLearn 2017: 7th Annual Conference on Creativity and Making in Education at Stanford University, where I spoke about the impact of makerspaces on education.

Coincidentally, after hearing about frequent power outages in Thailand's Chumphon community, I refined my solar headlamp by reducing the solar panel size, simplifying the assembly, and adding USB ports. I also modified the circuit to work as both a flashlight and power bank. After testing, I was able to send the headlamps to the community, offering a more reliable energy source.

Building on my work in Chumphon, I also noticed that fishermen in the area’s tourist spots, like crab banks, were struggling to communicate with visitors. To help bridge that gap, I collaborated with them to create a card game and flashcards called “English by the Sea”, featuring common English words and phrases they used daily, helping improve their language skills and reduce communication barriers.

After dabbling in industrial and graphic design, it still didn’t feel right for me. One day, through a high school alumni, I learned about UI/UX design. I immediately fell in love with it’s interdisciplinary nature and have continued to do it ever since!
